Day T + 207

I found out yesterday the exceedling good news that I have a place in the (inaugural) Virgin London Marathon 2010. No need to bother with my plan Bs of Paris or Edinburgh, I get to do the real deal first - the most popular Marathon in the world! I'll be running for VSO and hope to raise in the region of £3000. I thought as well as charting my fundraising progress it would be great to chart my training which began today. So I was off work yesterday with a bad cold and high temperature. Haven't quite recovered yet but no time like the present and besides my replacement Nike + arrived yesterday at the same time as my good news [previous one lost as I'd kept it 'safely' in my wallet, which got stolen last month]. So I planned to run to work today but with my log energy reserves and running for the first time with a rucksack were a bit too much, so I mostly walked. I ended up getting lost so totalled just over 7k however the journey should be about 5k. The idea is to do the return journey as well, so totalling 50k each week. Today however my throat felt sand-papered by 3pm so I hitched a lift to Brent Cross instead where I bought a couple of magazines on running that I'm about to read. Tomorrow I've got training after school in Canary Wharf so again will only do 5k but it's probably best to start gentle since my immune system seems to have it's work cut out at the moment anyway. I'm really excited though and having a marathon to run is a great motivator to train!
